Experts discussed training for renewable energy industry

The Strategic Session on Renewable Energy: Priorities, Human Resources, Laws was held within the RENWEX 2023 conference programme.

The session was moderated by Vladimir Kononov, Deputy Chair at the Russian State Duma Committee on Science and Higher Education. He reminded those present that RENWEX 2023 is held within NTI Expo (Science-Technology-Innovations Expo) that includes five congresses and exhibitions. “It has become a tradition to hold a strategic session at these events to discuss legislative support for the industry and training of professional staff,” said Vladimir Kononov.

Sergey Selivanov, First Deputy Director General at EXPOCENTRE AO, said in his welcome speech that compared to 2019, which was the first year of the show, RENWEX has already more than doubled. “I would like to thank the leading higher educational institutions of our country, which introduce both educational programmes and scientific and technical developments for renewable and green energy to the forum participants,” said Sergey Selivanov.  

Andrey Maksimov, Director at the Department of Power Engineering Development of the Russian Ministry of Energy, and Anton Gusev, Deputy Director at the Department of State Research and Science and Technology Policy of the Russian Ministry of Science and Higher Education gave detailed reports on their ministries' activities in the field of energy.

Heads of universities and industry research institutions spoke about their work for the renewable energy industry and discussed the following topics: how to ensure symbiosis between science, education and industry, main trends and priority projects, state support measures for industry enterprises, including development of legislative and regulatory framework, training for the renewable energy industry, and targeted student recruitment.
